I would point the trainer problem out to them (In a very strong way) The whole Central trainer program needs a huge shake-up, to many trainers just using students for extra miles.
I think that a student should drive there 10hr day as they are going to have to drive them when they go solo.......but they also should do all backing into docks and all QC messages.

The problem with that JJ, is that it is set up that way now, and trainers are not following it.
    Rules include
Student may not drive between 2400 and 0500, for the first week or till trainer feels they are ready.
Truck will be dispatched as a solo the first week
Trainee will be able to drive 10 hour days after first week. They need to get use to this for when they go solo.
Trainee backs the truck anytime there hours allow (says all in manual)
    Trainee does 100% of qualcom.

Now, one reason the newly upgraded students have issues with qualcom is that the trainers are mostly L/O, and they do not request fuel routing/ load routing (same mac)
Or learn how to properly follow that routing.

Trainers need to train the students as company drivers, doing everything the way they will need to when solo.

    On prior post.
I am sorry you don't agree. I will agree with you that the older trucks can be better. My last truck is gone now. It was trade time. I loved that old Cummins. It did break a few times, but I always knew what the issue was and it was fixed fast.

This truck is a 2006. It has not broken much, just an air leak one time.
Runs well. But has the Volvo engine. So no pulling power, and the Jake is a joke.
I did like the super singles on the snow though.

Now for a real news post.
I am putting in my notice. If I can get my FM to answer the phone.
I was offered a possition at a local company where I will haul local and regional. Out about 3 nights a week, but home the rest of the nights.
It is a flatbed company. Small 22 trucks last week, but just bought one today for me.
They will hold for me to get my time in here, but I told them I would be ready by the end of the month.
    Pays 28% of load.
Not sure what truck they got for me. All the ones they had in the yard last week were International 9900I eagles, or the larger of the Freightliner Classics.
I will let you all know more when I learn more. And I will continue to be active here.
I like Central allot, but my wife was ready to leave me if I did not find something where I can be home more.
So this is that shot. If it does not work out then I will come back to Central.

Your right!! That's when Central need to step in and stop the trainer from training!!! We as L/O still get fuel routing/load routing we don't always follow it but we still request it.
When a student has three different trainers that should tell Central that maybe just maybe they need to talk to trainers.

Good luck with the new Company, I hope it works out........Keep us posted and don't be a stranger

I agree with jess-juju, most trainers are using their trainees as a logbook. When I was on my first truck, the guy was cool but all he cared about was miles. I started driving and he headed right to the bunk, that was the first day. They are supposed to be cleaning things up with the new head of training. Trainees are supposed to do 40 backs in the 28 day training period. They want all trainees now not to do anything but drive the first 3 days no QC, no paperwork in order to get use to driving. By the way they are trying to get a trainer going through Vegas tomorrow and see if I can get on a truck. We will see...............
