I have been in prison since 2000, and haven't driven since 1999. Could someone please explain the new changes in log book regulations since then.

I would not know where to go from the beginning, but read on the important threads. Starting with 11 & 14 hour rule, 70 hour & restart & logging legal.

These would be enough to get you started with questions:biggrin_25519:

Good luck! Please ask questions someone will answer and if they are wrong I will correct them so always check back for my answer .
Most on here know the regs! :biggrin_25522:

I notice that log regulations for a laptop logbook include keeping printed copies for the previous 7 days and having a printer in your truck to print out the current days log. Do all state DOT officers have to accept this policy or can they still demand that you use paper logs?

I do not belive that you have to have printed copy's if you are using a laptop logbook only if you were using paper logs.

But I think that you need to be able to print them out instead of giving your laptop to the officer that wants to see your logs.

I could be wrong but I was told this by others.

Why not just go to any fuel stop and get the FMCSA Handbook ? Less than 5 dollars .

anything less than 7 min. you don't have to change your duty status, but you do flag it in the comments section, where you were, and what you did (off duty, etc)...

    ...I think...

You should have the log sheets printed and ready for the officer. He doesn't want to wait for you to print them. Then again you can hand them your computer however many people don't like handing over their computer. You must have a printer on the truck though. I would say if a driver has to submit the logs then he would want to print them. If you are an owner operator and you take care of your logs that's a good question.

This is not a paper less log system. Paper less means you have a computer program that tracks your truck etc. Very expensive then again I really don't know how much it cost to install qualcom in one truck that has the paper less logging system.

Ok I think I said what I wanted to :biggrin_25525:
