Looking at the pic from my phone. The axles on the jeep and booster almost look as if they have a mini spread.

Sorry @RGN my trailer doesn't lift any axles.

The thing that strikes me about that trailer is the length of the neck on jeep - looks long

I'll post this here as this is where all the smart guys hang out. This little const. co. I drive for is ready to get me another truck. Only thing I need to know is how effective are the jakes on a Detroit? I naturally am shooting for a cummins but have never driven an in line 6 Detroit. We have "a lot" of 10-15% grades in the hills here & I want to stop. your thoughts.

A newer Detroit or a older one, like a series 60?

My DD16 has a Jake that would put my old 625 Acert to shame.

It does look a little long, but at least you could get some weight in the cheater I'm just not sure the main neck is long enough to get the weight there without overloading the jeep.

Detroit or Cummins always had better jake brakes than cat for holding back. I would get detroit over a Cummins if I was forced to go new.

I'm a Cat man through and through, I put 300,000 on a 565 Cummins it was a good motor. I think it was snappier than the Cat but didn't pull as well on grades. Anyway got side tracked sorry, one of the local lowboy drivers got a new Freightliner with the biggest Detroit they have, I forget the horsepower but he said it's an animal.
