Yea Im not a driver yet but my dad wasva truck driver. And told me there's valuable info on the CB. Warnings of new formed tragfic jam, wise old guys even if their ######## because they lived thru hard times, knowing if you need to be on guard from lot lizards, scammers, cheap mobile mechanic if yu dont wanna wait on the TS shop. Its for so many things a cell phone can't do. I believe truckers need to interact more because its really You guys against the world. Cars hate yall so much. Unite to each other than run from each other sheesh

It's a gps that talks to you about things. Like as you're driving along "hazard reported ahead" or "speed trap reported ahead".

I have a CB. I keep it on and use it. But I also use waze as well as a truck gps. CB has alerted me to things before. But not before waze did. In fact, so far the CB has only been useful for entertainment. Right now I'm listening to a bunch of drivers discuss a guy that's taking a dump in the bushes at the shipper I'm at.

Waze isn't perfect and that's why I run a CB. For waze to work someone has to report what's happening ahead. If something happens right before I drive up to it and no one has reported it.. I hope someone will get on the CB and say something but I've a funny feeling all the drivers on the other side will just watch me drive up to whatever at full speed for their amusement.

Oh. To report something on waze I can just say "hey waze, report _________". No looking at it or playing with the phone necessary.

I generally don't reply to posts like yours because I have an aversion to feeding trolls or troll like behavior. I also am not comfortable talking about my experience. However I am a million+ driver whom is now retired. I have forgot more about trucking then a lot of people that post in these forums know. What part of I stopped using a CB because of the disrespectful nasty foul mouthed behavior of others that comes from using a CB today are you and some like you are having a hard time understanding? Today it seems like if you are not driving a manual transmission, using your jake 100% of the time even in places and times where it is very inappropriate or have a CB mike stuck in your mouth you are somehow less of a truck driver, and are a dangerous person. That attitude is 100% bull and has NO place in this profession.

I avoided the big pile up this winter on 81 because of the CB. That is a fact. It was probably some idiot posting on waze that started it in the first place.

I only remember one time getting hung up because of a fatal accident with no CB and that was near Nashville on 24 sometime around 2011. The road was closed for several hours. I was up near the accident site and I actually asked a trooper when he thought the road would be open. He said a while yet and suggested I hit the rack and he would wake me before he left. Yes I have been hung up and such, but I would never in a million years exchange the thousands of hours I have spent listening to soothing classical music or a game on my XM radio for CB. Ever!

I had a little game with those crashville closures... (Nashville Fatals)

Hop off onto a state road. the hilly the better. RUN the gears. Some follow me. It becomes a bit of a lark to see which of us can run. And a bit of a adventure to get back on the freeway ahead of the wreck using roads never traveled, seen and likely will not be seen again.

Out of route? Certainly. #### dispatchers are too uppty tight on the money.

One time we hopped off I5 and blasted through the hollywood area to the east of the freeway, it was a solid truck elephant to elephant at 70 mph lights and stop signs be ######.

Not doing that again but ...I guess it happens in that area.

I skipped around and missed much of these postings. But a few points.

The last day of the 20th Century was Dec 31, 2000. The Century dates change Jan 1, of the 01 year.

CBs are tools. They may help you get information quicker but they do not replace you eyes and ears. The first vehicles in the wreck will have not been helped by the CB. They would have been helped by paying attention.

Having a CB on all the time is a pain as much of the stuff is just hate speech. I prefer audible for books. I like my classics. I even like listening to Broadway. Although I get a bit tired of the flamboyant speech of some of the host.

Stay awake and pay attention. Be safe.

As for Rudeness, it is on the rise all over. Treat people like you want to be treated. (write that down).

I have only run into one guy out there who I felt was rude. He was the one who hit my truck and tried to make me think I hit him.
