Hi everyone!New in the field and have question about king pin setting.
What will be the good number for 53' step deck with 11' upper deck and 241" wheelbase tractor?
The rear axle on my truck is non-lifting tag axle and fifth wheel most likely seating in front of the center of the tandem(close to drive axle)
    Any opinion welcome.Thanks!

    18"
No clearance problems and you can hang loads over the front a little if needed, just make sure you can slide trailer axles to meet kingpin laws

I have trailers ranging from 12" to 24". With my 253" Pete pulling the 24" I have to slide the fifth wheel all the way back to get enough swing. It depends on how much swing you need (how long you are from fifth wheel setting to your mudflaps).

But as old man mentioned, you need to start at the trailer axles and that will determine the kp setback depending on what States you want to run (due to trailer wheel base laws). Example, IIRC Cali wants max 41 ft from center of rear axle to KP.

Could be... That's why I qualified my statement with "if I recall correctly". ;)

Also,.. not sure why or if you specifically need an 11' upper deck spec. With step,.. most everything goes on the lower deck. 10ft upper with 43ft lower and an 18" king pin set back is the most ideal set up for a 53' in my opinion.

Unless someone else can give me a reason why giving up 1ft of lower deck space is better?

My overall length will be over 75' with 10 upper deck. My tractor an desired fifth will position is not allowing me to go with 10 upper. How I mentioned, my rear axle is tag axle and this limiting me a bit.
Also, I want to be legal for CA. and Western Canada.I need the actual space between king pin and frame on the trailer to determine final setting. Will be 24" or 30".

Depends on how far your fifth wheel slides back but I doubt if you can swing 30"

    What brand?

The reason I ask is different brands have different options. Many all aluminum steps will only do 11' uppers. There are makes that you can do 11' 10' or 8'. The 8' isn't very popular because you need an extremely shallow kingpin (12" I believe) and the 5th wheel all the way back.

Also with aluminum you will tend to need more clearance.
