One time I tried to tell mine, "It's not my fault, she hypnotized me is why I was hugging her; that's the only thing that could have caused it."
I don't have to tell you how that went over.Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
I think Swift has owner operators included a tractor count of 20,836! That is an absolute ton! That when you put it into perspective is the entire population of Fairview Park, Ohio. So you can imagine the amount of turnover that they are going to have with a fleet that large.Radman Thanks this.

When you figure OTR guys are making 300 plus a day, it is hard to take a day off and mow the yard for free.

Hell, that's my minimum to even crank my truck, let alone go to work.

I made a post about this exact topic yesterday that received some good feedback if you take a look. I'm currently debating on whether I should go local or possibly regional or dedicated. On one hand I really enjoy the thought of a local gig and being home daily, especially since I have my frist son due at the end of July and I actually enjoy being around my wife. She's my best-friend and we have great times. On the other hand I know it will be tough to find a local job right out of CDL school which I'll be done with in a week and a half. So I've been really pondering the option of going with a company and getting on a regional or dedicated account that could have me home every week because the time I've spent driving up and down I-35 while in CDL school has been very enjoyable for me. I actually enjoy being on the open road and just cruising. So that makes me think if I can't find something local that a regional or dedicated gig would be a nice compromise of the 2 options, home weekly while still enjoying a good amount of driving.
I do know a lot of the local companies like beverage, food etc companies hire out of CDL school, but I got my CDL to drive, and unfortunately a lot of those companies are 30% driving and 70% labor. I've done my time in the labor trades.stacks Thanks this.
