BostonTanker, didn't you say your buddy had a local union gig lined up for you when you decided to try Werner? You said your buddy told you not to waste you time a Werner, "they will screw you." You said that the local union gig will always be there and you want to make some real money at Werner, or something to that affect.
Didn't people on this form tell you to forget about Werner? Something about the training is crap and the recruiter lies about the actual average miles. Some said you will have slow weeks were you won't get nothing for miles. I sure that is said here every week.
That is how all these Mega run. Use the recruiter to promise the big miles. Deliver those miles around the Christmas and starve a driver out the rest of the year. Hope the driver remembers the promise and forgets the starvation and is willing to overcompensate by insisting he is the one driver that gets better then the companies average. Almost 100% don't stay for the next seasonal surge to happen, the starvation is just to much for most.
The miles, sigh...

@ 64 I used up all my luck and have to rely on skill and deception. Now if can just retire before I'm 112.

Great company, I worked out of the Fresno, CA terminal. Out here we got paid to fuel, pre/post trip, make and break, and chaining up.(only in CA due to our work laws). I ran extra board which means I didnt have a set run like the most senior drivers (we had 8). I was number 3 of 6 on the extra board. Consistently had 2500-3000 miles per week with a very affordable benefit package. Just google Estes and go to their website. You will need all endorsements. You will run nights, days and all hours in between. You will pull doubles usually with a 3axle day cab. When your driving hours or 14 are near you will go to the hotel near the terminal you are at and take your 10. When your 10 are up you get on the phone with dispatch and let them know you are ready. You head back to the terminal with your truck, grab your trailers and burn your hours up. I would normally stay out 5-6 days and come home for 1 1/2-2 days. Dispatch will run you as hard as you like, you can even stay out longer they like that, or find a partner and team up. Big runs with a nice sleeper. We had a run from Dallas to Fresno and had a two trailers 6 days a week. Good LuckLast edited: May 30, 2016

He'll try to send you West to route you East. To make you late.
They don't give a ####, man. They go home every night.
WErner Cares is a crock of ####.
Guarentee it.BostonTanker Thanks this. -
I too am a fan of tanks. You don't have all the hassles associated with vans.

Who cares what make or model of truck you operate. If somebody wanted to pay me around .75 a mile I would drive a 64 Mack. These mega carriers try to make you feel special. Go where the money is. Many of your "union " companys operate old equipment because of the higher wages they pay. That being said just because they are union does not mean you will make more money.Have fun be safe, check out a company before you hire on. LTL, Fuel haulers, and many of you soda and beer companies are union as well as food sevice.

Darn shame you guys in here telling this guy he needs to stay out 2-3 weeks at a time to make any money. While you sitting under that 400 mile run you picked up on Friday and cant deliver until Monday while sitting 600 miles from home, I'm at home enjoy life, just like you should.
Btw, what do you think you're going to average while running the NE?? 2200 mi a week is actually pretty good for M-F -
Ya,
Not sure yet. When I do get done with werner, no more sleeper for sure.
