Is that a 4x4 bulkhead on the rear or did you just barely have enough room on your new 53' trailer? Can't tell if there is anything loaded between it and the box behind the tall thing in the center.

Oh and for the record, I think the beach goers in North and South Carolina would like to strangle you. You went to the beach several weekends in a row and it was beautiful weather. Then you decide to stay out and go all the way to Colorado and they get hammered with bad weather. I think they blame you for it. Now we know why you got the different trailer....you are trying to be incognito. :mwink:

Yes yes you caught me. Lol ive treated the wife and little one to mini vacations every weekend ive been gone. So they have seen some of the rain too. Just because im not home doesn't mean they have to stay in, my daughters 16 months and has visited 8 beaches and 14 states. Her mom and i want to see the entire world, from the moment i met her we've traveled.

The 4x4s are just hanging out until i find where i like them on this trailer. Dont want them up front, but dont want them adding weight to the spread either.and i hate keeping lumber in the landing gear. Time will tell.

Driver... What would you suggest to someone wanting to come over to flatbed? Would I learn enough at orientation/load-securment to be okay on the road? Do they have trainers? Is doing flatbed a good idea living in Charlotte?

How are the earning potentials? Is it possible to make the week profitable if you intend to be home every weekend?

Charlotte isnt a bad area zt all. Starting out here trying to get home every weeked isnt wise you have to learn the system and agents then go home more often. 950-1400 for me is easily obtained for me being home on the weekend. Youll have to roll on sunday night though.

Flatbed isnt scary, or that bad with common sense, asking questions and doing things the legal way. Showering twice a day because of being sweaty anf dirty is pretty common.

We have no trainers who aill take you on the road but some companies do. We have mentors who are to call if need help etc. Flatbed can be a figure it out yourself some days, normally an old hand around to ask though.

I really appreciate the quick response. To your knowledge, is there more tarp&strap loads in my area or chain loads? Is there a difference in a pay between the two as well?

After learning the way of the company, and building a repor with agents, what areas should I focus my attention on, that are profitable coming into and out of NC? (Sorry for so much material)

Going to be chain in, anda good mix out. Just focus on pulling good freight that meets your business criteria. OH to NC and back i see a lot if guys do. We do a lot out of northern SC as well.

Pay between the two will vary by the customer.

I'm going to continue to follow your post as a means of positive motivation and an actual success story. I am strongly considering re applying with Malone, seeing your success and how close we live to each other. Reading about your profits also inspire me to fight the NorthEast again. LMAO! I've done a lease purchase before, (unsuccessfully), and I learned a few things along the way, (fuel consumption), that I believe would make a second chance profitable for me. I'm very much interested in learning everything you're willing to teach. Lol! Seeing as I'm so new to flatbedding... Any suggestions for load securement videos on YouTube? I think you mentioned earlier in the thread about it being a good idea to do so as a newbie to flatbed, because it would help familiarize what's being instructed at orientation even more.....?

Lots of good information on youtube.

    How to fold a tarp
    Securing flat steel
    Securing suicide and shotgun coils
    How to tarp. Etc

The beauty about Malone is the freedom. Once you get out of orientation crap, get your truck, trailer and equipment squared away. Youll have a FM that is there to answer questions and help of needed, but you find all your own freight, make your own schedule and essentially write your own paycheck. No one really bothers you here. At least for me, i dont do micro managing of any sort. I do my job... You leave me alone thats how i operate. You go where you want, when you want, and how youd like to get there. The part most struggle with is that they are used to someone doing everything for them, thats not the case here. Phone calls have to be made, the board has to.be checked during the day etc you always want to have a plan in and out.
