Hey guys, been looking at switching back to OTR lately and I've noticed Big G trucks around. Talked to a few drivers on the CB and they seem real happy over there - just a couple of questions before I start the recruiting stuff if you don't mind answering:
1) Do they hire out of Louisiana? I see the trucks passing though here pretty frequently (Baton Rouge/NOLA)
2) Pet policy? I have a dachshund that I rescued a year ago from a shelter, no ifs ands or buts, he's coming with me and I'll find an OTR company that does allow pets.
3) Do they like a driver that prefers to stay out 3+ weeks at a time? I'm single, mid-30's, no kids, still paying student loan debt that I'd LOVE to pay off in a year or two. That's my main motivation right now.
Thanks for your time.

Awesome - I've flipped through the pages in this thread and can safely assume that you guys average ~2500 miles per week if you stay out all 7 days. Overall, are you treated well by your dispatchers - and what % would you say you drop/hook freight? I used to work for KLLM and had to endure the endless hours at grocery warehouses and have vowed not to go back to reefer freight if at all possible - going to see how I like dry to save some money back and perhaps look at flatbedding down the road. Thanks for your info!

Big G is about 60% drop and h99k,and they do their fair share of grocery warehouses,Vijon loads somet8me take 6 hours to unload
Wookie Dude Thanks this. -
My #s were on pace to earn right @ 60k working an average of 6 days per week. Some guys take more home time than I did. My buddy in East Tennessee is still there @ a lower rate. He leaves out on Monday mornings usually and mostly gets home Saturday by noon. He occasionally gets home Friday evening. He's on pace to make around 50k. My average length of haul was 531. 95% of the time I was east of the Mississippi.
tucker and Wookie Dude Thank this. -
I did several live offloads @ Walmart DCs also.

The trucks have APUs and inverters which helps.
paul_4lp and Wookie Dude Thank this. -
Which was going to be my next question - I got really pissed off with KLLM when I was assigned a truck with no APU or inverter, then was denied a service request when the truck wouldn't idle and I was in Laredo, Texas in the summer. 100F+ that day and I was told not to idle on the yard on my 10 hr break. That was the end of it!tow614 Thanks this.
