You've been gone too long G/MAN. Every one of their van trailers has a tracker, all new BCO's have elogs with gps tracking, and their app tracks you. That's too much data for me to be giving away for free, if you ask me.

    G/MAN Thanks this.

I knew that they had trackers on at least some of their vans. But, I thought the poster was talking about having his own authority and hauling loads for Landstar. They don't require eobr's for outside carriers. It has been longer than I would care to think. Things were a little looser when I was with Landstar. They didn't have some of the technology that is available today.

I have my own authority and haul for Landstar and I don't have trackers. I won't let anyone track me on my phone either.

Last June I booked a 20,000 lbs dry van backhaul load to TN one night from a Landstar agent. It paid $2,340 gross revenue on 500 loaded miles pick #1 in Marshall, IL pick # 2 was 20 miles away in Terre Haute, IN and delivered ASAP down to the Toyota plant in Blue Springs, MS. He required me to use Landstar Connect tracking app. For that kind of money I will most definitely let anyone track my truck. I did one more load for these guys down to Blue Springs that paid even better. However, they beat me out of detention pay down at the Toyota plant on both loads. One of the LJ gangsters with a 479 area code no less.

Right now I'm doing a low paying load for Coyote and they sent a tracking request to my phone. When I saw it I busted out laughing you want to track this? Buhahaha Of course I am not going to waste my data on that kind of BS. But when the load is good I think it is crazy to not allow it. As far as leasing on with Landstar versus own authority until elogs are mandated for everyone that would be a no brainer. Before, who can really say? Everyone does differently in different scenarios. Independence ain't for everyone. And Landstar ain't either.
