Never believe a truck salesman? I am shocked, Dryver. You probably don't even believe dispatchers and recruiters either.

The company I work for runs all Volvo's around 2013 and 2014. Mine is a 2013 with the D13 and in the six months I have been driving it I have had 4 breakdowns. My rig is at 370k and is regularly maintained. The first brake down was a problem that most D13's have that causes the engine to dump a lot of antifreeze out the overflow of the container. The second was transmission issues. Third was more tranny issues but electrical this time. Last time was to have all my batteries replaced. I talked to the owner of the company and he told me this was his second batch of volov's and all of them are having problems. He is thinking about going back to the freight shakers with the Detroit. I'm not saying that Volvo's are piles because all rigs will have break downs, but just that some are more prone then others. Oh yeah and the most mpg's I have been able to squeeze out of this beast is 6.8 - 7.0. My 2015 Pete 579 with the paccard 13 valve got between 7.5 and 8.5 depending on how heavy I was.
Bean Jr. and Starboyjim Thank this. -
I agree. I am not speaking so much for breakdowns/reliability on the Paccars and Volvos, but as far as the quality of the experience going down the road inside the truck (rattles), and how you look going down the road. (Freightliner fairing panel gaps anyone?)
LOL...Wow...this is why I say buy an old truck with a pre emission engine!Dryver Thanks this. -
What's the weight difference of the new Volvo 780 compared to a Evolution, and T680?

This quote below, is a reason why he sets his rates like that..
He does care about fuel mileage... to an extent. We live in the U.P. 96% of the people he hauls for are friends, or friends of a friend. He makes great money. lol -
