The only real short term solution is to shut down two or three days and create a backlog of freight. Nearly impossible to organize though it seems. Consolidation has created virtual monopolies, and those monopolies deflate freight prices because they control an overwhelming portion of the freight. In the future vote for people that are willing to protect the little guy. The biggest and richest gobbling up everyone else is not good for us, as a whole.

Ok guys.....this is diabolical. Some shippers have a bidding process. You have to be registered and than you can bid on tenders. You can identify this when a a broker says..."MAKE AN OFFER AND ILL GET BACK TO YOU". The thing to do is bid low...stupid low...with no intention of doing the load they win at a price they cannot move the load with. Simply say....you snoozed...I booked...gee willikers sir...I am so sorry..
