Leave that train horn alone. Please. Lives depend on it. I love em as much as the next guy, but theres a real threat that they can swerve into you.
And you Troopers don't get to come off the hook either. What are you doing with all that technology in your patrol car when you cannot get out from underfoot? No offense please. Hell, Im a sinner myself and should not be throwing stones.

Used to see it all the time when I lived around Atlanta. Thank god I'm away from that place! Had 2 instances in sc where guys crossed over the median and were coming head on at me, guessing they fell asleep at the wheel seeing as how both were around 3-4 in the morning heading to the job I had at the time. And there's always that confused old lady trying to go down the exit ramp. Just have to be ready for anything all the time.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
"why are all these morons going the wrong way?"
-
Simple-they're not focusing on driving the vehicle like they should be. I've lost count of how many close calls I've had because of other drivers not paying attention to their surroundings. Heck, one of my cars was destroyed by one of my neighbors because she was distracted-and the car was parked in front of my house(I still miss that MG).

My 2001 Dodge Quad cab with the Hemi 5.9 was destroyed by a ford F250 (Totaled believe it or not when the frame in front of my rear tire failed) backing out of his parking spot into my marked spot. Crunch.
With a set of large 265/70 hankooks rated for 3000 pounds each there was nothing I could not haul with that truck.
It' going to be irreplaceable that truck. Ive got a tahoe now but it's ####. So... -
We have had several wrong way drivers on i81 in ne Pa., in the past two months. Usually impaired drivers at night. Several deaths. No trucks involved as far as I know.
I think it is harder for drivers to detect a wrong way driver, due to the darkness and inability to judge the distance and speed of the wrong way driver.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
In recent years it's been a chronic problem in Massachusetts too(one case a few years back involved a off duty state trooper who was eventually charged with DUI).

Old age is part of it, some of it is from the idiots whom think they can get away from the law by doing something risky. Another is that it could have been a adrenaline junky. Do something that is out right stupid just to get a adrenaline high from it. Then there are others whom could be whacked out on drugs. Yet all of these situations are the result of one thing. Impaired judgement. When that driver is caught, you can guaranty that the law wont allow them to drive again. That is unless they borrow a friends car.......
Very sad. I hope the wrong way driver gets some help and soon! -
I loved and miss I-81. I know that road like I know my wife. However I don't love and miss it THAT much.
US 15 has the crown of all roads in the east coast as far as Im concerned. Been up top in NY State all the way down to south carolina where the routing gets a little bit... misplaced now and then. We don't like that too much. -
Sad, when semi trucks do it too...
