I finally got around to installing that fan shroud on my 06 W9 C15 Acert. When you talked about making it work before, you mentioned something about centering the fan hub. Was just curious how you do that. Cant really see a way to do it. I have probably less than a 1/4" clearance between the bottom of the fan and the shroud. All sorts of room on top. What is an acceptable clearance?

    TIA

    Superhauler Thanks this.

you have 4 bolts that mount the fan hub bracket to the engine. the bracket shold have sloted holes where the bolts hold it on the engine. loosen bolts and slide the hub bracket up to center it.

Had that off to get the shroud on. They are not slotted.

Do you have the serpentine belt and tensioner pulley belt system?

Serpentine belt. When I put the radiator braces back in sucked it back a tad and I gained a little clearance. Hopefully it will be fine

Should have at least 1 inch gap on the bottom. If not two things can be done. Cheap way is to slot the bolt holes that hold the shroud on and drop it down. Not so cheap way is to buy a fan hub that has the slotted bolt holes.

How much clearance do I need on the bottom? I can get a fingertip underneath it.....I'm thinking that might be enough?

You could just put a shim or couple thick washers under front engine mount.

Only thing with that is it might alter your driveline angle a bit. Easy to do thou!
Just another option if you only need another 1/2 or so
