Hey there guys and gals, long time lurker here finally coming aboard. My name is Mike, I'm turning 22 this month. A little background, after graduating high school with technical and JROTC honors I started my career in the auto parts industry, worked my way into management after a few months and then put it on the back burner to "broaden my horizons," if you will. Spent some time in a KW dealership (which has made me slightly biased,) and left there for an opportunity with a local franchise mechanic (that ended when I, as a service writer and part time tech, started turning more jobs than the shop manager but still made terrible money.) I left the shop for an upper management position back with the parts house, where I stayed on part time throughout the other ventures. When the parts place decided that nationwide they no longer needed assistant managers in their stores we were all laid off. The job hunt started again and I've since been with an armored truck company, primarily driving. I'm in one of our larger trucks, but because they all gross under 26K nobody is required to have a cdl.
I personally have a strong passion for cars and motorcycles, which is where my love for driving comes from. I love working on mechanical things and there isn't a whole lot I haven't been able to figure out (not to sound ####y). Because of my time at the parts place and the KW dealer I am ASE certified in automotive and medium-/heavy-duty parts. I am also a gun nut and like to think I am a cigar aficionado, although it's been a while since I've had any (got too expensive for my budget at 2+ a day, and I've been vaping since).
Truck driving has piqued my interest many times in the past, but with this armored truck gig getting on my last nerves, not to mention the dangers involved, I think it's time for me to actually make the switch. I have a handful of friends who are driving currently and a handful who used to drive, one who did private contract work overseas (whose house is paid for, retirement is paid for and 4 kids college now paid for. What a life!)
With that out of the way, I'm here to stay, hopefully. And happy to finally be getting into this field which I've dreamt of for a while.
Cheers,
Mike

Well, I've fixed it to address the ladies on board. I'm slightly taken aback though, considering the entire post the only thing you had to say was that there are lady truckers and I neglected to address them.Last edited: Jun 7, 2016

Welcome.
When you see me plop a burned out alternator on your counter, I hope you can find me a factory replacement with identical stats. If your mechanic boys and girls do a good work with the repair, I will pass a dozen TA's specifically to return to you shop.
Good luck! -
I'm not in the parts business anymore, but if you're broken in the Asheville area I'll tell you which shops to avoid and the one to go to.
Cheersx1Heavy Thanks this. -
Outstanding. Have a great day Sir!
Hachirolla Thanks this.
