Ahh, that is why the Chinese Yen is now on the horizon as being the standard for world currency. That and we just continue to print off money devaluing what the American dollar is worth. It's a sad cycle and it doesn't look like it will end anytime soon.

In the words of a pretty sharp prophet, Starboyjim, "as long as you're working for wages, you'll always be a pawn in their game." Get used to it. $50K, $100K, really, it's just a little more of one than the other. If you make more money so you can buy more stuff, you just make more wealth for your Masters. I tell you, Drivers, it's a rigged game, and we're not winning. Not that I/we live badly, we don't, we're Americans. But when I think of all the wealth heading up to where the tall buildings are and people do little or nothing to earn their absurd salaries, it makes me upset. So I just live free, more or less, accept what I can't change, and save to buy a place with a fishing pond or stream. Yup. Fishing, the great alternative to politics.

That's a ridiculous statement about them doing nothing and making their money. If they weren't working for it and it were that easy, everyone would do it and we would all be millionaires. The truth is, as with any business, it takes long hours and a lot of hard work to make that kind of money. Is it always manual labor? Well, no, but as a driver you should know not all hard work is physical. If they weren't making their millions, they wouldn't need the materials for the buildings built, the products they buy and sell, etc and we would all be out of a job and this forum wouldn't exist.

It's been grinding down up in the Bakkan for a couple of years, ever since the Saudi Sheiks started "Oil Wars," selling oil at $30 - $40/bbl. The fracking method is expensive, and that kind of money won't pay the bills. So, a lot of people are sitting around trailer parks on unemployment benefits (the lucky ones) or selling their pickups, or living with good 'ol Mom 'n Dad. It's not a pretty picture. And, a lot of greedy Americans build apartments or small motels so they could rent rooms at $700/week to those oil field workers - they now have mortgages and construction loans they can't pay. The whole service industry is like that, restaurants, retail stores, repair shops, all in trouble. I was going to go there for "the BIG money," now I'm glad: that's a mistake I didn't make.

Often what we see as a "gold rush" is only wonderful for a few people. Once the rush starts, so do the problems.

If a driver has 5 years of verifiable experience, a good driving record and a job that runs thruway doubles he can get the proper permit through his job applying for him through the Thruway authority and he will immediately make 100k annually or very close to it to drop and hook. My good friend makes 100k and works 40 hours a week, home daily with a 4 day on 2 day off rotation
