Due to my inexperience with Kentucky parkways I had an unpleasant episode this morning. Upon looking at my atlas and planning a route around Owensboro Ky, I notice that there is a note for TOLL at mile marker or exit 10 on the Audubon Parkway, so I decide that since I didn't stop and get any cash I would get off at exit 10 and take Hwy 351 which parallels the parkway and I could by-pass the toll and not lose any time or money. Hwy 351 is a narrow two-lane but I found to be an Ok route with no restrictions or low clearances listed in the atlas, I was doing fine and every now and then heard my antenna hit a low tree limb but didn't think much of it as this was a normal thing on many roads. All was well, then I spot a low branch jutting out into the right side of my lane and at the same time a pick-up truck was heading eastbound so I had no where to go but stay my coarse and it was so sudden that I came upon this branch that I could not slow down enough to avoid it, as a result of impact with this branch it :biggrin_25510: completely took out both the stock antenna and my Wilson 5000 both of which are probably still laying near or on the road. The lesson to this story is always have some cash on hand to be prepared to pay for tolls as it sure would have been less costly than that Wilson 5000. HERE IS THE REAL KICKER TO THIS INCIDENT, THERE ARE NO TOLLS ON THIS OR ANY KENTUCKY PARKWAY I LATER LEARNED FROM A FRIEND, AND ACCORDING TO MY FRIEND HIS MOST CURRENT UP TO DATE RAND MCNALLY ATLAS STILL SHOWS THE AUDUBON PARKWAY WITH A TOLL.:biggrin_25516:

this question might sound stupid to you all but i am goin to ask it anyways ...how do you kno how to get to point A to point B ...just by address and you gotta look it up in a road map and figure your own way there or wat??? i use to work for a cube truckin company and we had to look for it on the map but that was all in town...and i already kinda had an idea where everything was anyways

Call the reciever and get directions. Alot I dealt with had an automated option when you called that would direct you to a directions extention in their phone system. Or use gps.. but it can be wrong.

If you have or can afford a laptop with Wi-Fi you can use Mapquest or Google maps to get directions and/or a map to the location. Both of these have aerial photos so you can see what the road looks like, 4 lane, 2 lane, etc, railroad tracks, exit ramps, the whole shabang. If you have a cell phone you can access both of these also on their mobile versions. Best way to get where you need to be.
