Most of all the "bonus" pay you mentioned is mostly b.s. except for miles bonus, stop pay, and mpg bonus. And these dont pay much at all at the megas.

I agree "Most" new drivers won't make gross $1200 per week.
But "Most" new drivers won't tarp loads, or will work for Swift/Knight/Werner, etc.
When I was looking into jobs right out of school, I was PICKY. I turned down Werner, JB Hunt and JBS Carriers, all of whom wanted to pay me .25-33 CPM. I went with System Transport for .36 CPM, who seemed like a good deal to me at the time. I did well there and was invited to join a specialized fleet at 43.67 CpM + oversized, PLUS hazmat rates.
I'm making 47 CPM at 15 months or so. Making 2200-3600 miles per week now at a reefer company. It's decent. Can't think of where I'd do better. (Not that thi keeps me from whining). $500 a week after training? I wouldn't have done it for 3 weeks.blairandgretchen and rachi Thank this. -
New drivers at the company I drive for may not make 1200 a week, but will certainly make more than 4 or 500 bucks. Newbs, after training here will probably average 850-900. Unless they are pretty lazy.

Not sure of mentioned but some companies pay based on percentage of how much they got from the shipper.

I don't know if this still applies 20 years later or not, maybe someone else still gets the same thing..?
Back in 1994 I was hauling chemicals for Transchem/B.J. West (now James J. Williams), we got different combinations of pay depending on the run. We always received hourly pay for loading/unloading. Depending where you were at, it could take up to an hour and a half to load or unload. -
Tankers. HAZMAT. that pays all those above for most part
