They also had one for the APU back there. I traced the AC lines to it from the compressor. They were both about the same size.

There is a guy in Miami Fl running electric fan on his truck for like 15 years, it's on a International 7300 single axle pulling a dump trailer with a hot L10 around 400 hp, little hot rod back then, now it gets hot down here, but once you get moving all that humidity will help cool it very quickly.

my fan clutch runs according to temp, but I also have it wired to come on with the flip of a switch. so why would 1 need elec fan?
-
The mechanical fan is attached to the engine. It pulls power down, hurts fuel economy when engaged.
And I dont understand why a bigger alternater would be needed. We run inverters, tv's, fridges, 17 million lights already. 2 or 4 electric fans would account for nothing compared to all that.heavyhaulerss Thanks this. -
And you can move massive amounts of air with them

If any one follows NASCAR , knows what the teams were doing with electric fans. Strong enough to pull a vacuum under the car(in effect regaining downforce ). Must be strong and moving tons of air?

I've ran 100's of Detroit 60's with Flexilite 440 pusher fans. I'm not sure about the hp, but they're good for about a 1/3 mpg. Probably not worth it for a single truck when fuel's $2.40
We upgraded the alternator too. I'm not sure it was for the fan as we also had esbar heaters and a/c so every truck had 4 extra batteries in the frame rails. I'm sure a quick google search would reveal the amps required for the pushers. -
So after looking into this, I found a set up that uses dual fans, oils 4600 cfm, and uses 28 amps.
The power draw isn't the worst, and the air flow didn't seem bad, but I have no idea what the mechanical fan pulls. -
Girlfriend!!! lol. I don't think so. But yes, he, she, it does have electric fans on the engine. I also have another friend that has them here at home. They both work excellent. After pulling off the engine fan and clutch there is a TON of room. My friend here has 4 RV radiator fans. RV's are electric by the way. Was a simple wiring job to the electric solenoid that turns on the old fan. Just wire to the new fans and your in business. It's also the same switch that is controlled by the AC.
They are much quieter, cheaper and save 25hp.TruckNorris Thanks this.
