Im purchasing a truck from Tennessee and need to bring it back to Texas to register is and get apportion plates. How can I drive the truck back? because the seller is taking off his tags?

If anything , put not for hire and call DMV in Texas and they will tell you exactly what to do .

You must send proof of bobtail insu. to your IRP off. before they wiil fax you the new hunters tag If you havnt set up your IRP acc. in TX. irp may not sell the hunter tar that you need so now is time to set up irp acc. in your state?

Here is what I did. Inspected the truck, paid for it, went home, got plates, went back to pick up the truck. Put plate on, found a load out trailer on loadboard going home, loaded it and made a profit bringing the truck home. Did not want to bobtail 2000 miles

Just Google it and all you have to do is print out the permit and tape it to the window.Thatd all you will need.

Then when you get home you can apply for ifta.plates and all that good stuff.
