Omnitracs probably has the largest market share and probably for good reason but most who use the eobr also leverage it's messaging capability and allowing HOS status to be viewed in office, live. It's not cheap.

I think a lot of it is the salesman for those companies convincing the carriers that their overpriced systems are worth it. I work for a small company that does regional flatbed and we have BigRoad. Does all the same stuff that the big names does including the messaging and they can see our hours in real time. I'm pretty sure the service is $15/mo if I heard correctly. Awesome deal for an O/O.

If you haul for sammons, they picked rand because of the gps software also. And they also though it was pretty neat that they could tell how the driver drives his truck. As rand would send it ANY type of code.

For a month i had phone calls every day because of sudden braking. the speedometer went dead at any speed under 25. One day a new sensor was installed in the transmission and the company finally SHUT UP and quit calling.
