ticket for 5 miles over the limit

Hello guys,
I was driving in my personal vehicle. A highway patrol officer stopped me for going about 10 miles over the limit on the freeway and gave me a ticket for 5miles over the speed limit. Now, my question is this ticket would cause to my insurance to go up? according to a prosecutor here in Utah, the DMV is not required to report under 10 miles over the limit to the insurance ( he was not sure if that law is the same for CDL). Any experience from you guys?

 

Well then it probably won't go up. It's says there not required to report it, and let's be honest when was the last time the DMV had there #### together lol

 

Get you a local lawyer in the area that you got the ticket that specializes in traffic cases. Depending on your record, a plea bargain can be in your future.

 

Also are you asking for PErsonal vehicle insurance or commercial?

 

i say that cop cut you some slack. slow down..

 

Lawyer probably $1500 minimum, and it will take 6 months to get resolved.

Highway Patrol told me once, " 78% of the people on the highway obey the speed limit, we catch the rest."

 

I had a ticket years ago for going 68mph in a 40 mph zone.In my car at night. Went to court and "payed more money" to the court to get it wrote up as Faulty equipment (bad speedometer).This recorded it as a Non moving violation.Thus didn't raise insurance and not counted against driving record.I say go to court,if you can.And look into this option.It's always about Money.So you pay more money and it may just dissappear! JMO

 

1500$ for an attorney? My traffic guy in DFW only charges 150$, unless it actually goes to trial. I was placed on deferred which only a district judge can grant in Texas for cdl holders, municipal judges don't have the authority anymore.

 

First phone calls to attorneys are free...........doesn't hurt to check into one.
