My advice? You don't live that far from Youngstown, drive down there and look around for a couple days. Look for trucks hauling block, precast, building supplies, anything with a flat or step and a day cab. There are lots of jobs like that that pay hourly and are pretty good jobs. If you want on the road look for a decent looking truck with a name on the door you've never heard of from the general region you live in Google, call, ask. There are too many good opportunities out there to screw with bottom feeders.
Which company do you recommend

Nick Strimbu in Brookfield, Oh might also be a place to look into. They have a training program.
-
I checked them out already. They have a flat bed division my buddy worked for them but left due to money they pay cpm and he said he just couldn't get the miles he needed but he said they were the most caring company

If really love to work for Yourga but they make me worry about making money. Seems with you being home every other night and making 40k a year makes me worry about bills a little to much. I'm trying to aim as close to 50k at least
-
Did you choose a company yet?
-
If you need more than 40K then probably TMC is best.
With Strimbu you would need to be in reefer division to make decent money and run coast to coast.Lancia Thanks this. -
I think TMC is who I'll be signing with I like their va apprenticeship program thank you all
Chinatown Thanks this. -
They aren't the only company out the with the va apprenticeship program, but they are the only one in aware of that is a2 year program
-
Well after getting everything done TMC rejected my application due to accidents. Yet I wasn't at fault for them (my luck) well I guess I'll try for PGT trucking

Roehl Transportation has a 24 month VA OJT Apprenticeship Program. They are a fairly large company that runs all 48 states. They have Dry Van, Temperature Control and Flatbed divisions. Werner also has 24 month program but I would avoid that company.
