Those legal threats have only become more frequent over the years, but I think carriers have gotten smarter about sending them directly by mail, phone, or email instead of posting publicly on the forum. Not that either has ever helped them accomplish their goals. If companies don't threaten to sue me personally or the website a couple times a month then it's a light month.
But I don't mean to make anyone worry about TruckersReport getting sunk by a lawsuit. Our budget takes into account the need to hire legal representation, and we have the law on our side.

I will gladly make a donation to your legal fund. The advice on this forum has saved me headaches and I'd be glad to return the favor

I believe that anyone who has been around here for any length of time, has no problem in seeing the kind of place it is. Staff here is fantastic about keeping on top of things. If you do screw up, you are usually, given a chance to redeem yourself. And it is obvious that they are shills for nobody.

Well put it this way- I've learned a lot of insider information I would have never learned if it wasn't for the site.
Also the accidents, dumb driver activities, dumb driver behavior, d.o.t 'grey area' 'what ifs' and 'what to do if x,y,z' happens I wouldn't be as prepared as I am now. I know how to approach a d.o.t officer with respect from an ex officer himself @dieselbear, what to ask and how not to be annoying.
I've learned that the most challenging part of this job is not necessarily skill, but tenacity with patience, like being in a pilot parking lot where drivers are on 10:49 of their hours and trying to get into a simple parking spot. (Which isn't simple when you're rushing it and irritated).
Safety is a huge issue for me and this site definitely helps. I do think we have a long way to go. I don't think that the accidents that occur should happen. There are too many drivers that drive trucks like a car,(following distance, speeding, center of gravity).
I also love hearing from the veterans in this industry who put some of the overly ambitious arrogant and know it all drivers in their place.Last edited: Jun 26, 2016
