If you have an infection you should take antibiotics, simple as that. It your job to let your doctor know of all known allergies... not just medical allergies but ALL allergies. I hate articles like this trying to deter people from a very important medication.

I agree. However, alot of the time, people receive medications with no history of ever being allergic to something. Many people develop the allergy because of taking the medications.

A person should always monitor the effects of medication at all times.

I found out the hard way that I was allergic to to the Oral-Sabine Polio vaccine in the Army. I was vaccinated during grade school with the "injected" Salk vaccine without any complications. But anyone who has ever served, knows that your civilian vac records are for reference only and you'll receive the vaccinations whether you need them or not. :biggrin_2552:

Just like you stated, most of the time it takes more than one dose of a certain medicine to create a reaction, this was my case with morphine. But this shouldn't deter people from being honest with your doctor.

sadly this is how many people find out about allergies...People just need to monitor themselves most allergic reactions can be overcome just by waiting but of course any irregular heartbeat an/or trouble breathing requires immediate attention. If you are unsure about allergies discuss them wit your doctor in depth!!!! Don't be afraid to tell them anything, it could save you a whole lot of frustration down the road. But on the same note don't scare yourself into believing antibiotics are bad when they could in fact save your life. I can't stress this enough.... even if you dont have health insurance... go to the ER it is federal law to give treatment to everyone regardless of health insurance status. America can't keep on trucking if you neglect your health.
