You are very lucky then...Now for a chap who owns their own (no lease) there are a few companies that offer some great dedicated accounts with big $$$$$

Man I worked for DART and had a 16 KW T680, they started me out with a few great runs. After the first week I kept getting under 500miles a load. It's definitely a disappointment and robbery the way they set drivers up with all these fee's and have them sitting around for the next load (um I got bills to pay). I had to sit every other day for a load and when you call in and ask for the next load they would make you literally wait all day before you get any feedback. Hell thats if you get any feedback at all. Man don't waste your time...save yourself and run away lol
bzinger, skeeter59 and snowlauncher Thank this. -
I was with Dart and I never late, always on time, and never in a accident. I heard a lot of great things from a few drivers but wasn't reciprocated by through the company at all -
Are you l/p or o/o?

See STexan's post above yours. Things were great when you were a company driver because THEY were on the hook for the note, registration, insurance, maintenance, etc on whatever tractor you were driving. It was in THEIR best interest to get you freight and keep you rolling. Now that you're a lease operator, YOU are are on the hook for those payments and expenses, and they don't care if you run and get miles or not. They'll take the truck back, put another starry eyed lease operator in it and start the cycle again.BigHossVolvo, GoldenGraham55 and Cat sdp Thank this.

Sir,
So you speak for all of their drivers when you said, "The only time drivers sit around is if you are late on your loads regularly."
It could be your personal experience. Then good on you and you did well. But as a non dart driver I would be sceptic after reading your post. You made a blanket statement, and I remember when taking multiple choice tests, never pick blanket answers! -
12 hours? No thanks. I'll stick with having my next 2 or 3 already lined up. Only way I sit is if I choose to sit.GoldenGraham55 Thanks this.

I look at it this way. The number of companies that offer leases has about tripled in the last 5-7 years. Do you think these ATA members sat around and said "Hey I know a great plan for drivers."? And yes I know it reaches far beyond the American Trucking Aristocrats.

And you can forget the posts from POPFTS. He signed up, he defended, he left.

Too bad dart went in the toilet , I was there from 88 to 93 and only left because I sold my truck and wanted to be home more. ..it was a good company back then .
Fast forward to 08 and I bought another truck and was thinking about leasing to them but the 3 people I talked to on the phone there were so rude I hung up on em .Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
