Also sounds like he got into the cash advance trap, These are no better than payday loans,except they don't charge as high of an interest rate

 

I never understood it either, and it happens all over in the workforce not just in the trucking industry.

I actually personally know two drivers who have paid off trucks through a lease purchase deal, both through Swift as surprising as that is.
One guy took the truck to Mercer and the other is still at Swift, the one who's still there has actually paid off two trucks through them now. Just finished his second one recently.
He works hard though. Very hard. He's a nonstop nothing but business kind of guy and I really admire his work ethic.
Would it have been easier for him somewhere else? I can't say for sure, he's found something that works for him and he's happy with it so that's what really matters.

So that's it, I know two people personally who have made it work and I've met at least a dozen drivers who have lost their teeth. Not the best odds, or maybe not the best business decisions, probably both.
