Well I finally made it back to Iraq...I have been here for about 3 months with KBR.I did get the recovery mechanic/senior mechanic position. We do on and off base missions to recover military, and civillian assets.Other than that,we dont do any maintnence or that kind of thing on vehicles. We use rollbacks, land alls',hets, and civillian heavy wreckers. Its been good so far.The pay is about $8,500 a month without over time, and there is another check in there on a 5 week month.Bein only 24 thats good enough for me lol...They train everyone on the equipment through a 120 hour course, and hire alot of people with littlle to none wrecker expirience. Its not a bad gig.Being a convoy driver is not a bad gig either..I talked to many guys who love it,and can make about 10k a month average.Anyway,I just wanted to update things on here and poke my head in the door here.If anyone has any questions, just let me know..As of right now,all you need is a cdl to get into recovery.Convoy drivers need tanker and haz mat.Hope everyone is doin good.........

i find your post interesting is their a nat'l. # for KBR to inquire about the qual. they require
-
Hey Iraqvet, you were slamming KBR last year for their treating drivers like numbers, why the change of heart? -
If you type in kbr jobs on yahoo, you willfind the website. The only thing you can really do is go there and turn in a resume online annd wait to hear from them..I didnt hear from them for a long time..So it may take a few months.....L.B.,when I was here with my reserve unit las time, kbr treated alot of people like dirt..Once haliburton left, people started getting treated bettter.I had a friend who came over with them and said they improved on that area alot.so I figured what the heck..They used to run their drivers in the dirt..Now its unusual for anyone to get more then 12 hours a day on their timesheet.Unless we have a recovery right at quittin time,we only get 12 hours a day..
-
Stay safe over there. It's good to hear from you!

Hey vet glad to hear you're doing ok. What is this overtime stuff. Used to be extra time at same pay.
Those 5 week checks added up a lot quicker. Where you working out of? Stay safe buddy.

..Big Duker, they pay overtime now after you have reached 84 hours a week,or more then 12 hours a day,but it has to be approved..It is just strait time with no uplift
..I am at a base down south of scania...I will put some pics up of the recovery trucks we use when I can get a hold of a computer...We have the kbr kiosk, and military mwr,but you cant download pics at either one...

Yeah sounds like same deal. After 84 just hourly without uplift. Those hours over 40 aren't as dangerous as the 1st 40.
I spent a long time at G-6 Echo S of Scania. Also Kut for several months. I liked Kut and Talil AB best. Sounds like you are doing good. Hang in there. If I was your age I would still be there getting a nice nest egg. Kind of like your generations Alaskan pipe line. Lot of guys socked it away and sure made the rest of their lives easier.

I wouldn't mind going over there for a year. Are they still hiring for drivers?
