Well the chp or any other state police would of have been just as tough and gotten me for the violation as well if they have seen it .I still like the drive through Arizona and I would get bored if I just stayed in cali.
Btw the officer was polite and professional. The seatbelt just stays on now.

There is a vid on YouTube where a TN State Trooper is talking. He says he will prosecute to the full extent of the law for not wearing a seatbelt in a CMV. Said he saw a story where a bus driver hit a bump in the road and fell out of the seat because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. The bus went out of control and crashed, killing a bunch of kids. The Trooper said ever since he saw that story, it changed the way he looked at seatbelts and they protect much more than the guy wearing it.

I don't think it should be a law you can get punished for but my view was changed many years ago. When I still had my construction business I did some additions for a guy. Very smart, well educated and working on Wall Street after having been a lawyer for some time. He hired me to build a house for his folks right across the street from his place.

One day he wanted to take us all out for lunch. We got in his car and he just sat there for like 3 minutes not saying anything. I said ok Joe, anytime your ready bud. He said not until everyone had their seat belts on. I said come on man, it's only 2 miles down the road. He insisted, we were hungry, so we did. At lunch I asked why he made such a big deal over it?

His answer: Before I was lawyer I was a NYC cop for 16 years. In all that time I never once unbuckled a corps. The table went silent as we all thought about that for a moment.

Hey, I'm a biker who hates hats and before that lunch, never wore a seat belt. I do now, whether it's the law or not. To me, It should still be a personal choice but l think everyone should consider it very seriously. I still won't wear a helmet in states that allow it but I figure on a bike, I can't do much harm to others.

A bus driver hit a bump and fell out of the seat?

I'm finding that somewhat hard to believe.

I fell out of my mixer once. Had to literally rotate mixer 180 degrees with out moving it, Guess I was over burdened, cause got it set up, opened the door to get out, and I was on the ground on my backside, still can't really tell you how I got there.

AZ tried giving me a misdemeanor for not putting company zip code on a log. Money made that go away. Seems to me a seat belt is a different story. Lawyer up. Don't think any driver should be out here without a lawyer on retainer. That's just me however..

I think AZ should be called California East. They do so much immitation of CA laws. Perhaps it is because they can't think for themselves, or all the lawmakers are transplanted Californicators.

I remember seeing something like that but there was more to it. Dude was whipping around a corner so fast he had to hang on the steering wheel to stay in the seat. Hit a curb and went flying.
