It was me who hit it. The QC message will be sent out today. I bought the company, fired half the staff and drivers, and gave the remaining people a raise. Good luck and safe miles.
WotansVolkman, heckclan, MidWest_MacDaddy and 2 others Thank this. -

I also need to put more effort in learning who the office staff is. Often times i converse with someone over the phone or QC and have no clue who they are or their role in the company...or how they may be of benefit to my bottom line.
In the past at other jobs I always took the stance that the less people knew me the better off I would. Stay off the radar so to speak. That may well be a hinderance here.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
That 15 mins may mean the difference between on time delivery or not somewhere down the road.WotansVolkman, KD5AXG and JohnBoy Thank this. -
I haven't had a load that required scaling in a few weeks. In fact, I have not had a load over 25k since before my first home time. I sure hope this home time gets me off the east coast. I95 is the Devil's highway.

Today was my last day at Tractor Supply Company. Been working there almost as long as I've been working at Amazon.
It would be inaccurate to say that they were a great place to work, because it was a minimum wage retail job. But it was a good place to work. When you need a part-time job and can only work Fridays and Saturdays, options and opportunities are thin on the ground. They took me onboard despite my limited schedule, and I was happy to work for 'em. My job mainly involved picking heavy things up and moving them around.
My boss is a good dude. I found out today that he'd given me the Employee of the Month award for last month. Since I only worked four days, total, last month due to CDL school, I asked him "So this is basically a 'lifetime achievement' award, right?" and he laughed and said "Yep." Apparently I am now entered in a drawing with all the other employees of the month for my district and my region. There exists a possibility, however slim, that I could win a trip to Nashville to have dinner with some of the Tractor Supply high muckety-mucks. Which would be kinda awkward, given that I don't work there anymore. Not that I wouldn't take 'em up on it anyways.
One step closer to driving a truck for a living...
