I started at 35 Canadian, with load/unload and tarp/untarp premiums, and cleared the equivalent, in good weather, to approximately $17/hour Canadian.

If they don't offer a good pay package with regular increases, and proper training, I'd reconsider personally. Those are tantamount to success in this industry. Without room to grow, you won't have the ambition to do more, and without good training, they are just setting you up for failure (which could end your life, or your career).

I agree with Zeviander. If there are regular increases at set intervals, then it has the tools built in to keep motivating you..

You want to find a company where you will be happy sticking out your one year of slavery.

I started @.27 as van driver. Had regular increases to .33 after a year gaurentee.

If its your first gig in trucking and raises are set in stone. I would take it.
Have to get that one year of experience in after you have options.

First 3 months are the hardest then gets easier.
