You dont need to school me on passengers riding along. Your not one of those "creepy truckers" are you? You know, the kind that pick up daisy duke types that are out hitchin' rides?
Truckers always pick up hitch hikers in the movies, do you?

No!
I'm an older woman, not as strong as I used to be, can't carry my weapon of choice and I don't want to spray wasp spray in the truck if it becomes necessary, not mechanically knowledgeable esp on these new vehicles and most everyone has cell phones....there's very few places where Verizon doesn't have service. Besides it's against company rules. -
Nope, to be honest I don't see any.
And if you do I would stay clear, next thing you know your being mugged, stabbed, or forced to drive her and her convict boyfriend somewhere and I would bet they won't allow witnesses.
Your truck freight and life are worth way more then some pretty face and legs.
Not to mention career if none of the above mentioned happens, and your pulled over its not worth it. And I have a pretty face legs and wonderful woman at home waiting for me.
Crazy try and make a joke for ####s and giggles.
If you read my posts I'm the only one stating the laws on this subject.
I'll find it in the fmcsa book later.
When I have Time.rachi Thanks this. -
Here is the regulation regarding passengers. By the way, insurance is not a FMCSA requirement, only written authorization. Insurance is usually a company requirement since they don't have passenger coverage as a way to save money. And, yes you can still carry an undocumented passenger in an emergency situation to render assistance, so that would be a good excuse why you had miss Daisy in your cab, if you chose to do so.
§ 392.60: Unauthorized persons not to be transported.
(a) Unless specifically authorized in writing to do so by the motor carrier under whose authority the commercial motor vehicle is being operated, no driver shall transport any person or permit any person to be transported on any commercial motor vehicle other than a bus. When such authorization is issued, it shall state the name of the person to be transported, the points where the transportation is to begin and end, and the date upon which such authority expires. No written authorization, however, shall be necessary for the transportation of:
(1) Employees or other persons assigned to a commercial motor vehicle by a motor carrier;
(2) Any person transported when aid is being rendered in case of an accident or other emergency;
(3) An attendant delegated to care for livestock.
(b) This section shall not apply to the operation of commercial motor vehicles controlled and operated by any farmer and used in the transportation of agricultural commodities or products thereof from his/her farm or in the transportation of supplies to his/her farm.Gearjammin' Penguin, rachi and tucker Thank this. -
This is what I'm doing every time when I have a passenger. Pice of paper from the motor carrier saying that this person will travel with this vehicle as a passenger for such and such period of time and by any means they are not responsible for him/her. No insurance needed. I personally never had any problem. Have been held for a DOT for two hours and they never asked for the passenger ID .

Right so ok guess it's a company thing for insurance my bad. Thought was law obviously, because when my woman went with me we had to have it in the truck. Speaking of which my woman getting the itch to ride with me again.
She can only handle it like like a few months a year. Long hours out here and long roads, she is especially concerned with bathrooms and showers.
But still my point is then and now. You can't just pick up anybody that needs a ride. Geez can't even joke anymore crazy.
And Daisy was never with me lol,quit framing me.brian991219 Thanks this. -
They did us... her I'd and mine and the proof of insurance. When I get home in ohhhhhhh few weeks I guess I'll post pick of the form. I know it had to be signed by the company and stated the dates only, she was insured for not destinations hell I go everywhere, it's impossible to know.
I know one thing I'm staying out of hazard county this Daisy thing got me in enough trouble. -
Too many rules now days. There may be state law for a passengers in CMV as well. The motor carrier should know at any given time who is in the CMV. I believe you .I even heard fellow truckers had ticket for his little daughter not been insured. It just depends from policeman to policeman I guess. And at the end of the day they are right. Better pay that ticket if is not going on your MVR instead paying twice as much for lawyers and court fees. And they know it very well, that is why they riding non sense tickets all the time. Just like bee's collecting honey for the county.

I wasn't talking about random hitchhikers.
