Hahaha! Yeah that 9100 apu I bet caught you totally by surprise. Smart purchase on your shiny new truck. Hopefully it will give you many years of good service.

Whats apu? How do you set up a maintenance account? Or is it basically just a savings account from a bank?

And APU is an Auxiliary Power Unit. They are important for driver comfort. It allows you to run air conditioning and heating. They provide power to the sleeper to run appliances and some have a battery tender to keep the batteries charged and the engine block heated. I researched and have come to the conclusion that for me, they are important. I am not a nice guy when it is hot. And a temper combined with my small stature is not a good combination.

An APU burns .1 gallons per hour compared to 1 gallon for an idling truck. So you save 20 USD per night more or less. I am buying the Dynsas Gen 2 SL and having it installed at Boomers in Oklahoma City. Hopefully, that is the right choice. We shall see.

And yes a maintenance is a savings account. I opened a money market account with $25,000. That should be plenty. I have credit cards that have that on them but wanted it to be separate money for tax reasons. The truck is new and there better not be any need for the fund other then blown tires
