If anybody is a driver, happen to have taken the CDL permit test for the state of Iowa, how hard was it ?? I hear the study guides cost $90 for the lot.
If anybody has any recent/latest edition, let me know....might be interested in taking them off your hands.....

I cannot find a good website that offers a FREE cdl premit written practice test. -
Indiana's CDL handbook has little short practice tests after each section, i found a FREE website however i think links are frowned upon and I do not have the required number of posts to do it anyways..
i will say.. if you use google and search for cdl online testing center it comes up as the first result for me. -
I'm not "a driver" but I may be able to help a little..........
I'm sure there are other sources but you can go to the Schneider site and download all the CDL testing material for Iowa......
The SNI site also has online practice tests that you can take after you read the material. I saw many of the online questions on my permit test.
The permit test is just a typical drivers test...... you don't need to buy any study guides..... read the material and go take the test.....
What is the worst that is going to happen? You miss a few too many questions and you have to go back the next day and do the thing over again.......
Now, you do need to make sure you don't take the permit test too early.... I think permits are good for 6 months so you want to make sure you have a school or carrier lined up before you get it.......
(You also might want to start learning the 6 pages on Pre-trip inspections for when you take the real test ....... THAT is what you are going to have fun studying for! LOL)Muleskinner Thanks this. -
Go to the Iowa DOT website or search under DMV.You can down load the whole thing.Remember, not every question will show up on the test but it might.Study good.
Muleskinner Thanks this. -
Schneider has the practice tests, my wife took them, I just studied the guide, but I just wanted to pass, not get 100 on all of the tests. Iowa likes trick questions, you must pick the most correct answer.
I took the lot other than doubles and triples and Haz-mat in two short periods of less than 40 minutes each, I passed those last two in about 10 minutes each. Unless you get all of the trick questions, you won't get 100%. -
I'm in Arkansas and went to the Arkansas dmv website and down loaded the handbook. I'm sure you could do it in Iowa. I'm from Nebraska and took the ne. ddl test, studied the book for a few month and had no prob passing the written. Good luck and happy studying

iowa study manuals are available everywhere for free.
It isn't nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be...
pre-trip, IOWA lets you carry a cheater card with you. LMAO!!!
stick your thumb on the first line and say, "I am now inspecting the, *fill in the blank* for proper function, it is in operable condition, properly secured, with no missing fastners, is not bent, cracked, or missing any hardware.
move your thumb to line two and repeat... ect.
