Yeah, it's kinda like having a pet, better known as man's best friend. When things don't go accordingly you take your frustrations out on the dog by yelling and screaming at him. Eventually the dog takes just so much before striking back and now this tame pet no longer has a healthy temperament like he used to. The owners get rid of him because he is no longer good around the family, so they get another dog. Meanwhile society looks down on this creature as having an attitude while at the same time, no one is taking responsibility on the other side of the fence... and so in a sense, in stead of trying to create a better environment for company drivers, they keep hiring new drivers who are willing to take their crap which works for a little while before having to hire more drivers. You see, where ever there is an action, there is a reaction which where we get this so-called attitude.
There is a difference in simply having a bad attitude due to something that occurred in a different time and place and then carrying that attitude over into an entirely new relationship. This is of course considered having a bad attitude. But when a person goes into a job hoping to be treated fairly yet instead, you are treated unreasonable time after time, then it is only natural to start seeing a reaction from individuals who have some dignity. Of course many people may look at this as having an attitude simply because others have accepted being treated unfairly as a way of life. Therefore, it is not an attitude we are displaying when a company cannot disburse equal proceeds throughout, it is simply a point of view based on how one is being treated.
As I posted earlier, I tried to deliver a load in Temple Texas a week ago. The consignee emphatically said "NO". They would not under any circumstances take this load because the company failed to reschedule after another driver never showed up. Dispatch told me that they would definitely get this rescheduled and the consignee would squeeze me in that night. Apparently I have no knowledge of the how the corporate world works according to a dim-witted white collar worker at Crete. But then again, after two days of screwing around with this load in temperatures of 100 plus degrees, Shaffer finally had it delivered elsewhere. I guess I'm one of those "more stubborn mindset" individuals out here who isn't combatant enough with just a fan.
Oh yeah, I also couldn't imagine trying to keep my idle percent down in these hot summer months while climbing into bed allowing the pillow, sheets and mattress to absorb my sweat. Wouldn't that be something to look forward to night after night... smelly stinky sheets from the sweaty night before all because it is considered part of a driver's performance to keep the idling down below 30 percent. What about customer service presentation as part of a driver's performance?
My apologies to you Mr. Shipper - you see, my company doesn't want me to idle their trucks very long in order to stay cool and dry at night so that's why I look and smell like a baboon who was rolling around in a cow pasture.

LMFAO dude.... -
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, would love to read about the details

Come on, you can't leave us hanging like that!
Just out of curiosity, what is your new company paying you.
Good Luck with them or should I say Better Luck and drive safe. -
I posted a thread about my misfortune in "Trucking Jobs" titled "I screwed up so..." details on top of second page. Had I known it was such a serious offense, I wouldnt have attempted it.
Also, I am starting a little 'diary' in "Motor Carriers, the inside scoop" section to document my experiences with this compnay who seems to have such a bad name.
Im with Gainey and getting 31cpm...3cpm less than what I got at Crete. -
for those interested my full year from 8/9/07 - 8/8/08 - netted me 118,945 miles. just under 10k a month, factor in december and january i did less than 8k each, and its over 10k.
gross pay for the year was just a hair over 41k ( i like me some multi stop loads....) at .34 cents a mile.
if i can get to nogales by 10pm tomorrow night, ill have 3,562 miles this week. pretty decent for my first .41cpm week. the only kicker is ive got exactly 14 hours on my 70, and im in salt lake city. im 90 percent sure i can make the consignee, and its a weekend drop (no signature on these bills!) but im gonna have to find a hole to park in and walk somewhere with a fax machine im sure. i might stop and transflo it on the way there, theres noone in payroll at that time anyway
-
No signature? good luck, I was told alot of drivers scan there BOL early and payroll wont run it thru unless they see a signature.... Ive thought about doing this a couple times but held off because of what I was told... Please let us know if this works. I was also told that ( sometimes ) payroll will finish Fridays payroll and continue on Saturdays, just dont count on it.... DRIVE SAFE
highirish Thanks this. -
Hey evertruckerr is there anyway you can give us the breakdown formula for the 2nd page of your worksheet regarding the mileage chart. I'm incorporting your speadsheet into my work history folder but having a hard time trying to figure out how you got some of the numbers on your sheet. I am using excel any information you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your suggestions. I believe it's a good idea.

My Lord, where has the time gone?!!? While my computer was being tended to by the Geek Squad, you left Crete?!!? You and Ever were Crete staples!!! I got approved, but have to move out of PA to Greensboro first. Be safe!
-
Congrats on your approval! Its a pretty big commitment to relocate for a job, so best of luck to you.
Yes, Crete showed me the door that I unfortunately opened for myself. Rest assured; if things ever go sour for me at my current company, I will certainly do my best to rejoin the Crete family. Take care!
