Closer to the engine the better, they can run on fuel from the filters for a while. You will be more amazed to see how long one can turn 5,000 RPM blocked off like that.BIGZILLA Thanks this.

Crazy! The fuel shutoff cable on my Cat broke and I used to have to open the hood and manually pull the lever to shut it down.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
We have push button kill switches on our fuel hauling trucks. They are spring loaded and right before intake for the engine butter fly style work like a charm.

I appreciate your input. The truth is I don't even know how the electric stop works. I had planned to investigate further today. What happens when I push that button? It activates a solenoid which does what?
There is an emergency stop cable on a T handle on the left of my dash but the other end of the cable is not connected to anything. I assume that goes to the flapper above the blower, correct?Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
It ran at least 10 min with fuel and air seriously restricted. Thank God it was idling at 500 rpm and not running away.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Shutting off the fuel does no good if it's running on oil vapor from the air box. That's the usual run-away condition.

Googled it!
Love it!
Gotta have it! -
our 8v92 had the air flap on the elbow, looked like a much nicer setup than the one you have.

Mine doesn't work. Hadn't noticed it until this morning. But even operated by hand instead of cable, it does nothing. I have to open it up to see what's going on.
