Rubber bungies help a bit with that...

Never really moved something small a short distance that wasn't back to the yard, in turn going out for delivery a much further distance away with another driver.

With a fully loaded set of B-trains, I tend to throw, wrap and secure at least 24 straps per load, and I sometimes do up to three loads a day (pickup and delivery). My company has taught me "their" way of doing it, and I just do it by nature, and it gives me a lot of confidence driving down the road knowing that what's on the trailer won't go anywhere... likely even if I roll the truck in the ditch.

I don't know why anyone would want to risk it, honestly. The ONE time someone doesn't do at least the bare minimum is when something goes wrong and either they or someone else dies as a result.

I like to wrap the slack around a binder and lock in in with a bungee. Goes pretty quick when you use a closed loop on either end of a single chain. Then you get a "doubled" bunch of slack. On standard width trailer with a 12-16' chain, there is only usually a couple feet of chain left over anyways.

Company truck. If it made financial sense I would already be driving down the road in my own truck. Maybe if I was doing something more specialized it would make more sense, but not to lease on pulling general freight with this carrier... Buying my own has always been an interest.

I guess it would be a 386, I don't know much about them.

The most valuable thing we have is our name. Your wife takes on your name. Your children are born with your name. Your house, your car, everything has your name on it.

Not trying to be a thumper but, the Wise Man said, "A good name is more desirable than gold." It s the only true wealth that any of us have.

You will hear me say often, " Whenever you play, bring your A Game." Every load, do your best. WHY? We are creatures of habit. Slack on the short load, you will slack on the long loads. You see these guys, day in and day out, posting pics and running loads, without a hiccup. Every day? A Gamers. You will never be at the top of the pile, you will never make top dollar, if you're not an A Game Driver. Never slack on the job. Never. It should be unthinkable.

Those short chains are also great for when you need that extra foot or two on your long chains.
