My husband is trying to figure out when he should try to take the permit test. He has been doing a ton of practice tests and has been scoring very well on them. How difficult did you feel the test was? How long is it? He's thinking about going this week but I'm worried he's being overly confident lol.

Honestly not being a arrogant prick but its very easy. My teenagers could pass it with a days studying. He will be surprised.
AM14 and Eethomas685 Thank this. -
Tell him to study the DMV book as well. If he's only going by the practice tests he's in for a surprise!
Practice tests work well only if you have already studied the material and understand the why's, where's and when's !AM14, majorbanjo and akfisher Thank this. -
Yes, good point by Giuseppe. The practice tests are bull ####.,Study your states CDL manual. End ofvevery section has the questions/review. Very easy stuff.
Giuseppe Ventolucci Thanks this. -
As someone who recently took and passed mine, I'll say reading the states commercial drivers manual was essential; the practice tests were helpful, especially the ones on this site.....but I don't think I could have passed with the practice tests only...
AM14, akfisher and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
The test is so easy a 10 yr old can pass it. It is a joke of how easy the permit test is. If you are spending days weeks or months "studying" for this......I really feel sorry for you.akfisher and Eethomas685 Thank this.

Agreed. If your husband hasn't gotten a state manual yet, tell him to get one. I took a ton of different practice tests and there were questions on the written test that could only be found in the manual. The tests are not hard but there were some trick questions on the NJ test at least. They aren't timed so just read every question twice to be sure.
I took the three required tests and the three endorsement tests on the same day. Some people like to take them one by one which is fine but time consuming. I suggest he studies them all before he goes regardless of how many he takes at once. There were bits and pieces from other subjects on the test. Good luck. -
He has a state manual and has been taking state specific online tests.
akfisher Thanks this. -
Remember to study the reviews at end of each section. THOSE ARE THE TEST
Eethomas685 Thanks this.
