yup, it's deductible.
Did you look at OOIDA's website for their lawyer referral program.
Membership is $35 a year right now,

I too have been a member of OOIDA for a number of years, nearly 12 in fact. They do indeed have a law firm that you can email for advice. I also do believe in the magazine I get, there are lawyers listed in ads that can fight tickets for us.
Perhaps prepaying for legal services makes one feel secure, so be it, I do not know if this can be used as a work related expense at tax time however.
All these years, and not one ticket, so from my perspective, I saved an awful lot of money by not having legal services. -
Another bottle of snake oil pushed on drivers. 2 sources I trust... OOIDA and my attorney.
nofilter Thanks this. -
One reefer company that I went through orientation with in PA, made us sit through a 45 minute sales pitch with some "dip ####" legal services salesman. He spoke of all the doom and gloom that was about to come upon us out there if we didn't have his BS services. I was amazed with how many folks bought into it and signed up. It wasn't exactly cheap either. He seemed insulted by those of us who took a pass. I didn't think much about the company after that experience.

I'd pay a monthly fee. For a $100 lawyer fee at time needed. Beats having to come up the lawyer fee at time needed. Which range from $400 - $800.
Don't get caught. None of us like to get caught but you just never know. Traffic citations aren't the only tickets we get out here. It's very easy for the newbies coming out OR old timers coming back out on the road to rack up some fines.
The only problem I have with paying for one service. Is they don't cover every courthouse in america. I used roadlaw for one ticket. But had to use interstate for the next ticket as roadlaw didn't have anyone to hire for that specific court. -
My company will take care of it. Their legal service got a $500 OOS citation in NM reduced to a $100 fine.

I'm with Driver's Legal. Eh, I'd say it's worth it. They do include bail if you ever get arrested.
I got a ticket many years ago for a flat in Missouri. They charged me $100 (what I'd call a deductible) to handle it. They went to court got the charge reduced to a loud muffler charge. The fine stayed the same $360. But no points, so it's all good.
So, you see, all of these potential tickets that we could get have nothing in the world to do with safety, and everything to do with money. Otherwise, recaps would be illegal. -
I have had one ticket that I had to pay in nine plus years. Can't remember the exact amount but it was around $200.
Open Road over that time would have been $3900 plus.
Math is Math -
The only time insurance is a good deal is when you need it. Legal insurance for me is a waste of money but I have the resources to take a hit. Walmart is self insured and had the resources to pay $75 million out to Morgan. If you have the resources to fight a ticket then you do not need to have insurance for it. Lawyers do not come up with ways that would make them less money in the long run.

(Do NOT USE) I had DLP Driver legal Plan with Klepper Law (Big NO NO... BAD BAD)
Many are talking this company up.
Guess what, speeding ticket in CA, paid the court fee, the $100 attorney fee and still stuck with paying ticket and show up on records.
Going 67 in 55 zone on I5.
I am unimpressed. Not with them or anyone else for now.
My theory was if there is something major, this could be useful but NO. you just end up paying extra. on top of what you have paid them already (3 years)
