Because smoke comes before fire. Brakes don't spontaneously combust. He should have looked at them himself and double checked to see if they were adjusted or not. Knowing where this happened he probably had the repairs done 1-200 miles from Mt. Ashland. There are hills between there that he got down just fine and it's a long climb to the top. Sounds like he's hiding the fact he went down too fast. If it was a mechanical failure and not driver error he wouldn't have been fired. I know that company inside and out.

 

So you drive truck? When's the last time you saw a brake catch on fire unless it was used too much or tightened too tight? Just curious.

 

But all are the same subject... Why not post in one and explain why his brakes overheated and caught fire? Going down a hill to fast and riding the brakes????

 

Friction causes brake fires, either the brake was dragging and smoking before the fire or it was used too much going down a hill while being in the wrong gear.
Or maybe a flammable liquid was dripping on it ....

 

You never have stated why his brakes caught fire? Was it on the trailer? He did not feel it dragging? IF so, he did not stop and put his hands to the hubs to see if they are hot?

Common sense needs to be in play somewhere... You have posted vague posts and slam a company, but have not posted any reasons why... Were you in the truck or just relaying what was passed to you?

 

Did he contact insurance carrier/agent directly. The policy may have personal belongings covered. Mine does with no deductible for personal property.
