That is a #### good story, sounds exactly like what a trashman will do. All the adults usually look at us like we're criminals straight out the pen, and this is the only job we can do.
That's hardly the case, most of us have family's to take care of and I think almost of of us love playing with big trucks and crushing #### big furniture with hydraulics. Haha.
driving a trash truck rocks!

Do I have to drive a 1 stack Green Mack with a window in the back?

All of the civil service jobs in NYC have a long long waiting list to get called back on. Too many people and not enough good paying work to go around these days. You know that's case when people are begging to be garbage men or subway conductors. Civil service ain't my style anyway and never will be. Too much bureaucracy and politics involved.Toomanybikes Thanks this.

When I was a squirt, because I lived in a small town, and maybe CDL training wasn't plentiful, my bus driver was also the trash guy. One of the coolest mo-fo's I've known to do both, in retrospect.Blackshack46 Thanks this.

Not really.
My republican governor slashed wages 20% & eliminated overtime for our early waking up friends. It used to be a pretty good gig like working for the post office was.
Private sector would be OK but even their wages have declined to compete with the public services.
Glad you are happy op & thank you for what you do!!!! You early waking up son of a bbbiiii- gun. Like me a good garbage man. -
I'm in CDL school and I have a few midemeanors from 2008 and 02 and a minor fender bender in 2012 I'm about to do my road test on tuesday is it too much to think I can get on with a trash company with no experience?

Just search the top three trash companies in the u.s. they do have trainee positions occasionally for drivers. If not take any job available and wait for a driver spot to open.Blackshack46 Thanks this.

If it's throwing trash that's a lot of hard work. I know because I did that before I drove semis.
It was around 76 when I did that and I wasn't even 21. There's a guy that does it in my neighborhood and he's been doing it forever and he's about fifty years old. I'm sure he's in pretty good shape. I thought that would be a good way to get a free workout and get paid for it but it 58 I think it might be suicide with a deteriorated disc.SHOJim Thanks this.
