I used to leave a $5
Then I realized my was $5 wasn't good enough. If other guys left a $5 maybe the guys would love their job more walking out of there with money in their pockets. However they don't and my $5 didn't create a difference. So now I dont. -
i'm not sure what the solution is----i don't think a truckstop really makes money off showers. It costs money to clean them, not to mention the cost of water, but they need them to attract business.
Yes, i have tipped occasionally when i did OTR, if the shower was clean and the general atmosphere of the truckstop was good.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
I was thinking about it, like around Thanksgiving or Christmas time. Would be nice to be tipped as well by shippers/receivers when I deliver early/on time without any damaged freight on the deck. Yeah right, Im a trucker and make a TON of money or so they're led to believe.

I leave a few. I left tip for an old man I saw cleaning showers, ladies and young kids who were trying to make a living.
Places that are nice, or leave a candy on the towel (which i never ate) or a bar of small soak type deal, I had left a few dollars there.
Not all the time, maybe twice a month -
i wonder what the europeons are doing with the shower situation----they usually have the right idea. Maybe a coin operated unit, all metal and self cleaning.

I almost always tip. I like to do so, in fact. I've only not tipped a handful of times and that would have been because of a real nasty shower room. That may have been only twice as I do remember giving a small tip if I felt Things were just mediocre. I'll throw down a five if I'm feeling flush and happy with the experience--I've worked enough service industry jobs where a tip-out really made a difference....and it's my money to share as how I see fit.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
We always tip the shower attendant in their hand with a "Thank you. Have a great day!"
When I have to worry about $5.... I will have to find a new job.
Guess what... People doing that job are people.. Real live people! It's a thankless job and one that I appreciate because showers on the road are a reality.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I always will leave a tip. The way the industry is going, I'm afraid they'll want me to clean up after the last guy before I use it. For that alone I leave a little something to show my appreciation, and make sure I verbally thank them.
yuban, Dave_in_AZ and dancecanyon Thank this.
