I can't see dropping 3k to pay someone to do what I do for a living.

lowest quote I got was $3K, most where $5K. If I'm gonna fly out to check out the truck I might as well drive it back. I think I'll just wait for something closer to home and in the off-season for me where going and checking it out and driving it home isn't such a PITA. I'll just run a rental until then I suppose which isn't cheap either.

I don't know if it applies to CMVs but for regular vehicles unfortunately MA doesn't recognize temp tags(basically you have to get the vehicle insured and registered and plates at the RMV before you can pickup the vehicle). Now if the vehicle is being registered out of state that might be different .

This is the simplest way. Plus you find out if there is any problems with it. Don't know why people over analyze things? You can own any type of vehicle you want for personal use and here in AL. you have 20 days to buy a tag if you are going to drive it. I still have one truck I bought for a tax write off when I thought I was going to run several trucks I still haven't titled. Worrying with a bunch of stuff for a potential lemon is pointless.

Imagine that setup going over monteagle with that load on? 5 miles @ 6 degrees downhill. never mind the uphill side.

When I picked up my '89 I rode with another driver in one of our trucks, he dropped me off and I drove the '89 back. Made sure I had insurance beforehand, put the name on the door, and dodged all the scales. Piece of cake. :)

Wylie Coyote probably felt safer propelled by ACME's finest than one would in that p/u loaded down. ;)

I hauled a complete rear cutoff suspension (8 tires, 5th wheel and all) on a trailer behind my dad's 3/4 ton gas Chevy. 5 hour trip over the Coq. That's about as much as I would want to haul on a pickup.
