Yeah, Maverick has them. But they call them lane assist. They won't say it but we all know that they're there to keep the newbs from running off the road. The video part of it is just a continuous 10 hour loop recording.

And even the owner-operators are forced to buy them and install them

I have my own. I am not going to do driver facing cameras. But as far as the road... sure. I put a 32gb card in it and copy it onto the computer every once in a while. They're very common in Russia as insurance is to expensive. It can really cover your ### when someone else does something stupid--you have proof RIGHT THERE.

But again, I have never been a fan of the idea of a driver facing camera. Matheson in California not has driver cameras, I am told. Ugh. And, they had a policy of no cell phones--even w/ hands free (but CB's are okay?! Like where we see the driver yelling into the radio, looking up at it), no eating or drinking I was told. Sad. I worked there for about 5 years.

Anyway, as a driver, I recommend you get your own. The have a decent one for $39. at Walmart, you just need to replace the 4gb mem card with a 32 which is the max it takes.

    M .2 cents.

They get away with this crap because drivers are too afraid to speak up or not drive for the company anymore. Too many of them live paycheck to paycheck. The power we have if we stood together would be life changing, too much ignorance out there though, so it never changes for the better.

Look guys and gals.... Don't believe that companies can not or will no monitor you in real time. I worked for company that have real time feeds to all of their fleet. My "wonderful" supervisor would show us how he had his boot over your throat by pulling up live feeds to show us he was watching us!

Lets just say I don't work there anymore... Don't trust me to do my job with all the pita federal, state DOT rules and regs. Then micro manage me when you don't have a CDL or know anything about CMV's, HOS,etc. And get upset when I burp or fart in a cab with nobody but myself???

We are getting to a turning point where companies have become to intrusive. Don't trust us with good faith that we will do are jobs. Then we will not work for you. The shortage of drivers with just get worse.....

Go to any type transportation trade show and there is tons of companies peddling their camera systems! Welcome the "new" and "brave" world of 1984. Big brother is everywhere and watching.....

I'm in the process of switching companies
The first thing I've asked every CO. I've talked to is-are you planning on putting on driver cams in?
And I make it clear I will quit immediately if they do.
Eventually I'll have to drive for the last renegade company.
I just hope I get 5 more years before the last one vanishes, but I'm doubting it.

That's exactly what we all need to do! They'll be forced to only use subpar drivers because all the good ones will decline to be under the watchful eye of the tearless retina.

It's one of the first questions I ask when I'm interviewing a potential new employer. Turned one down about a month ago and they called me the other day asking me if I had changed my mind. I said, "Do you still have driver facing cameras?" She replied, "yes" and I quickly told her to NOT call me until that changes or just lose my resume as I would never work under those conditions.

We both agreed it was a shame because they'll always have hard up newbs or people with ####ty backgrounds as drivers. The good ones will move on to better opportunities.
