I have a rule, it is a simple rule.
My trucks don't buy fuel at places that are either deeply discounted or where there are no signs of any trucks buying fuel.
Why?
Because either they got fuel sitting in their tanks and need to sell it to recoup their losses or have crap fuel in their tanks and need to get rid of it.
The amount saved will be used up when your truck breaks down and you get a nice tow/service. -

I found another great fuel stop. I80 and RT45 in Mokena. I think it was a shell fuel stop. $2.15 the other day, when the pilots were asking 2.45
EDIT: Circle K is the name. 191st street and rt 45. Near I80 get off. -
When driving south, The speedway on 41 north Chicago. When driving north The shell in gurnee on 41 has a scale. Both places usually have same price

When you buy fuel you pay state taxes in whichever state you are in. When you fill out your IFTA report, they take the taxes you already paid and divide it up between the states you run in.
I run mostly in TN and a lot in AL also. AL's fuel tax is lower than TN. If I buy all my fuel in TN and do running in AL, I'll have a credit on my IFTA report. If I buy fuel in AL though, I'll usually end up having to pay a little to IFTA.
There is a place on the TN IFTA form for gallons of fuel on which no taxes have been paid. If the station did in fact not charge you taxes, you better report it as such or they will catch it in a audit and back charge you with penalty and interest.
IFTA isn't something to play around with. There is usually no oversight and people get the sense they can cheat a little or be sloppy with their paperwork. That is until you get the audit call. I've had a IFTA audit and it worried me to death until it was over. All my info I knew was 100% correct but I did some paperwork things to make it easier for me and not to the letter of the way IFTA wants you to do it. In the end the auditor understood why a did it a little different because I don't travel like most trucking companies do and gave me a letter stating what I was doing was ok and to keep on doing it.Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
It is a circle k. I purchase my fuel there with my NASTIC card to get an even deeper discount. Pricing dose include all applicable taxes. You don't see many trucks there because the pumps are a major pain to get into!!!! I Go through the pull through for parking then back into the pumps. Paid $1.98 gal there last Thursday. TA Accross the street was $2.54 gal. Got 7.6 mpg on that tank with a 2000 isx pulling a flatbed.
