Question for you truckers... I'm in VA and I'm wondering if anybody knows how long the hazmat endorsement stays on your license. I just got my temporary license and am waiting for my hard copy in the mail. I got the paperwork saying I got approved for hazmat but it doesn't say the expiration date. I'm trying to fill out a job app and they're asking for that info... Any help is much appreciated as always.

Call your dmv, or check the website, it should tell you how long they last in your state.

The approval is good for 5 years but it expires when your license expires.

That's what Florida DMV is telling me anyway. I added hazmat last december but because my license expires this coming october the hazmat approval expires then also.

I'm not happy about it all.

In Ga and Tn, when your license expires, your Hazmat expires. You have to go back through the process everytime your license expires.

I renewed my license 4 months early in Tx. In June with my birthday on October. When I got my license it was good for 5 years until my birthday that year. But the hazmat was only good for exactly 5 years from when it was issued in June after the fingerprinting and the background check. It was noted on the back of my license that the hazmat would expire on 6/19/2020, while the rest of my license wouldn;t expire until my birthday in October.
