MD, I think he has his mind made up. Seems we've all been trying to help him and he's just not listening. Even I shut up, listen and take advice every once in a while. Not sure where his disconnect is? People say it's trucking. It's a lifestyle, yada yada. Some just don't understand. You're not going to be home on time, every time. You're going to get crappy runs. You're going to breakdown. But, if you absolutely need to be home-communicate it. Put in for the day (or even 2) before when you really need to be there. For every 1 or 2 crappy runs, you'll get a sweet one, or even two. For every breakdown, turn in all your receipts (I learned the hard way on that one as well) and write it on your cover sheet that you were broke down, in a hotel, and for how long. Scan your receipts with your bills. Simple.

If you're having issues, you need to speak up and let someone know. They are not mind readers. They have hundreds of drivers. Big enough to lose a driver in the shuffle, but small enough to care and want to help you come up with a solution to fix it.

You forget he only came to Abilene because of the short training period. He wanted to go with the company he worked at before. He didn't go back to them because they was going to have him in training for a lot longer time.

    MidWest_MacDaddy and Gwh1184 Thank this.

You really need to be at peace with yourself driving up from Vegas to Reno, overnight. What a disgusting, boring, lonely drive. We did stop at the Area 51 travel plaza, with the convenience stores, fuel pumps and whorehouse. It took me an hour to find Chris at 3am this morning. I couldn't imagine what took so long.

Mine now has 2 flashing red lights after I had a PM done yesterday. It had 1 solid red all week Another driver was telling me to hold down the blue button for like 15-20 seconds to reset the camera and make it go green again. I am not sure I want to mess with it at all after that fleetwide QC message saying not to touch the camera.

At peace with yourself is the best way to put it. When you have that you don't get bored or lonely.

    MidWest_MacDaddy and JohnBoy Thank this.

I hope that you hosed him off before letting him back in the truck???

I hit that place once during training and once since then... (front If the building) ... Quite the place if you like strange things in the middle of nowhere.

And you're right about that drive between Reno and Las Vegas ... Ugh

    Interesting thought...

Some days I can drive all day with just me and my thoughts, no radio, no CB, no phone calls.... And the day just passing by... Silently.

    Actually vary relaxing to me...
Just watching God's Creation passing by

Maybe I found my "at peace" when trucking.

Thanks for that thought my friend. Thanks.

Talked to Rusty earlier today. As long as I pass the physical (and I should since I've already passed it once), I start August 15th.

I personally would rather be home every day with the wife and kids. I have to make money somehow though. Driving local doesn't necessarily equate to quality home time.

Some days I listen to the radio and some days I don't.
