jess-juju, I can't send PM's yet, but I did get your PM last week and emailed the person you mentioned. They never responded, but yesterday (Monday) I gave it one last shot and called recruiting and got through to Amber. She had me send in the online application and I faxed her my DAC report, DMV report, W2 forms for old out of business employers, old truck school diploma from 1989, etc.

Just wanted to say thanks for trying to help me out. Now we just wait and see. Wish me luck. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Your very Welcome! I hope it works out for you with Central, Ever since I had my major Biotch session about them a week ago, we have been getting good miles and lots of loads you can drop so maybe they read the Central part of the board here.
Good luck and please let me know how it turns out.

Wait until you hear this National Beef story. A friend of mine is driving for Central and he had a pickup at National Beef.

He was at National Beef, Liberal Kansas waiting for THREE DAYS. He asked when his load would be ready and they couldn't tell him. After 3 days of waiting he gave them his cell number and bobtailed 400 miles to my house in Denver.

He spent the day, we had a nice dinner, and hung out with some old friends. It was bedtime when his DM called his cell to ask why he was 400 miles out of route. He replied that he would spend the night at my house and head back to National Beef once his trailer was loaded. He suggested that he was trying to get us kicked out of National Beef once and for all.

His DM sugggested he head back in the A.M. and check on his load. HE DIDN'T SAY A WORD ABOUT THE 800 OUT OF ROUTE MILES (400 X 2).

I would like to make it clear at this point that Darren is a COMPANY driver in a COMPANY truck.

His DM assured him that if he would just get his load delivered on time then he wouldn't charge him for the out of route miles.

All I can do is shake my head in amazement.

His attitude on the detention pay is that if Central doesn't try to charge him for the out of route miles (his DM said they would not charge him), then he would not push the issue of detention pay.

Part of the story is that I talked to his DM and I told him that if there were any problems then I would drive Darren's truck back to SLC for him and drop it off.

All of the sudden, he wasn't going to be charged for out of route miles.

I just wonder how much money we have to lose at National Beef until we decide not to dispatch loads out there anymore.

Hey Juju, i was just wondering last night if Wayne had already met JJ's old trainer? He said he met a truck driver the first night he was there and talked to him. He took him out to his new truck and said he was a trainer but wasn't doing any training until mid Sept sometime....lol...He let Wayne get in his truck and check it out. Makes me wonder if it was him?

    Lastkidpicked,

Very good story. I have had similar problems in Miami with a load of teak. My dad and I took the company truck to the Port of Miami to pick up teak and we waited for 2 days for it to go through the so called quarantine.. In the meantime they drill holes in it and say they're inspecting for drugs. In the end we had our new wood shipped to our home port and needless to say, it did not have holes in it.

The only thing that would have made the story even better is if 6pack and Chromedome had been in Colorado with us. Imagine a convoy of Central trucks headed back to SLC for turning them in.

I really think that this is the problem that Central will have to reconcile: How do you deal with a driver who is so frustrated that he no longer cares if he works for your company or not? That is a very big problem.

They only time any Company will start to care, is when every driver decides to part his truck and quit.. Then the company will be hard pressed to fill all of its trucks with new drivers while trying to save their business from going under..This can happen but in reality won't..
