They most certainly will route you home. In fact, they will ask you if you need to swing by home. My suggestion? Put in for hometime the week after you go solo, just to have it in the system.
All you would need to do is ask for a University Park or Belvidere load, we only go there 3 times a day from Richmond.

I can't recall a week I wasn't up there and no I am not a NE driver. At least I don't think I am.
-
I had not driven a Class A truck since cdl school 20 years ago (did local class b 14 years ago) and they hired me.

I have those days that would make old Charlie look like a Girl Scout selling cookies.4mer trucker Thanks this.

Save me a spot at one of them!!!.
I got Fazolis. I saw the panda express but when I see the word panda now I think of that panda song and start laughing.
Wouldn't want anything thinking I had gone crazy. -
Traffic and lack of adequate parking after 4pm are the reasons I don't like the NE but I will go anywhere as long as they are paying.

We are always heading that way. I have been through IL the past 2 weeks now. The load I have now picked up and delivers in IL. We have use of a drop yard in Markham.
If you have recent driving experience training may be much shorter than a month. Mine was a month and I had no class a driving experience.ChrisL Thanks this. -
I don't know about that, I have encountered some pretty menacing girl scouts selling cookies. Made me buy 4 boxes when I only wanted one.JohnBoy Thanks this.

Thank you for the info John. Will definitely mention that to them.
University Park would be nice. I'm about 2.5 hrs south of there.
Not much besides CDL school and a few weeks at Roehl. I'm hoping for 2-3 weeks. We'll see how it goes.Redtwin Thanks this. -
We have a major customer that has regular loads going to university park. Both times I have done those loads there were no less than 3 other Abilene trucks at the consignee.
I have also delivered twice for another of our major customers to a consignee in WI which routes through IL
As mentioned we also use the USX yard in Markham as a drop lot.
I can't imagine they will have any issue finding you a load going that way.
The length of your training ultimately depends on you. There are no set days or miles you have to do.
If you can knock out 600 mile driving shifts and don't do anything to frighten the trainers you should be good. If you have any experience with a Qualcomm you will be even better off.ChrisL Thanks this.
