It is criminal for politicians to collect taxes for one purpose and then redirect or use them for a different purpose. It is like education. Any time they want to raise taxes they use the children and their education to get taxpayers to go along with their tax hike. They can manipulate the money where the children will suffer unless they get their tax increase. I remember a few years ago we had a $7 billion surplus in my state. Two years later we were broke and they wanted to raise taxes for the "children." What happened to all that money???!!!! Corruption seems to be rampant in this country at all levels of government. When I see all these people protesting on Wall Street and other parts of the country it makes me think that people are getting fed up and are wising up. I know that some of these people are plants and probably paid to interrupt things, but others are expressing legitimate concerns about our country. I think that we are getting closer to a real revolution in this country than our established politicians want to admit.

Well, fuel tax is a tax on fuel. Common sense says that it should be used on roads. And unless a seperate tax is addes with that purpose or the state changes the laws in that state then they can use the taxes however they see fit.

When we deal with politicians or lawyers, usually the same, then common sense doesn't come into play. States should have in place laws which prohibit taxes collected for specific purposes from being put into a general fund where the money can be misappropriated. There is little accountabiliity when it comes to fuel taxes or some other taxes that are collected for specific purposes. I also have questions about the 2290 tax. What happens to that money and what is it used for???

Whatever they want to. The criminal Ben Bernanke and his fellow gangsters at the federal reserve are pocketing it. The truth is with fuel tax, 2290, or whatever taxes they've collected - they've gotten enough revenue to pave the highway system in gold over the past century. And they are going to pass Senate Bill S1867 the "National Defense Authorization Act" later today. Which gives the executive branch the power to have the military arrest any American citizen anywhere in the world, including right here in the states (goodbye Posse Comitatus), and toss them into jail indefinitly for any reason. The citizen will not have the right to see a civillian judge or face a jury of his peers either. The Constitution is officially null and void.

Questioning what they are doing with these enormous sums of money they rake in or telling the truth about the criminal federal reserve will be a crime against the state in the near future. The executive has the power to assasinate citizens and it's being used. And now the imperial executive branch can toss us into jail at will. Citizens that protest and speak of the constitution are potential homeland security threats, terrorists. They have come full circle with the national security state. Now we here in The United State(s) are all about to enjoy a taste of the "freedom" we alledgedly export to countries like Iraq, Egypt, & Libya.

It's not craziness, it's the #### truth. That's where your tax money goes... And if a big bank is about to fail, or the European Union, why it's no big deal at all to create trillions out of thin air (at taxpayer expense of course - Ben Bernanke prints the money - our gov't pays him interest for borrowing it) to rescue it and the fraudsters that ran it into the ground get bonuses. But a bridge collapses in Minnesota and they cry how the tax system is decrepit, we're just not paying enough, insert whatever lame excuse they make up here... and the infrastrucure crumbles... Funny how that works ain't it?

I always thought it would make sense to pay for your plate, 2290, UCR & most other screwball fee's they think up in one spot annually. You could eliminate countless collection offices & direct the money where it is suppose to go all in one shot. That of course would assume you are paying a honest entity, which does not exist in many local, state or fed offices.

HVUT goes into the Federal Highway Trust fund and that money is returned to the states. And unlike how many states charge a tax on fuel and put it into the general fund, these fees must be used for transportation related projects or they loose the money.

Some times they make a change and get it right. IFTA works great. New CSA actually is starting to do what it was intended to do (but more because industry is using the tool).

Now the fact that the state can use this money to create a bike path when they have roads crumbling is another issue.

So if you're leasing the place you got your truck should provide you with the documents to give to the carrier?
